A quaint little village known for its traditional houses, right on the shores of stunning torquoise colored lake with the backdrop of mountains filled with a beautiful mix of green and yellow.
This is the image that comes to my mind when I am asked to paint a picture of Brienz.
It was love at first sight when it comes to Brienz. While we were on our way to Mt Titlis, we had seen this small hamlet and had fallen head over heals.
When we had a day at our hand and had to decide between St Beautus cave and Brienz, we obviously chose Brienz.
Though Lake Brienz is one of the many lakes I had seen in Switzerland, but the beauty of this torquoise colored lake is quite mesmerizing.
After getting down in Brienz, we went on to enquire about Brienzer Rothorn, Switzerland's Oldest Steam-driven rack railway. Since it was not covered in Swiss travel pass(ticket price was high too), we skipped to head to Giessbachs falls.(One way funicular ride costs just 5 CHF/person)
Brienzsee! If the boat dockyard looks this stunning, who wouldn't take a photo.
Giessbachs Falls
Cruise trip from Brienz see to Giessbach see was whimsical with great views.
From Giessbach see, you can either take a funicular ride up to the level of Hotel and hike further up to various levels of waterfalls or you can fully hike your way slowly to enjoy the beauty of the place.
As the funicular reached, we were treated with a beautiful hotel opposite to the view of many tired waterfalls.
You can further hike up the mountains to various tiers of Giessbach falls.
One of the best things is that, you can even go behind the waterfalls.
As it was one brilliant day, we didn't want it to end. We whiled away our time in pretty ways exploring some interesting things in Brienz.(Read here)
Lake Thun
Lake Thun
After spending our time leisurely in Brienz, we headed towards Thun! The picturesque town looked stunning in its fall colours.
As we started back to Interlaken west, the view of the lake shimmered in the evening hues of Sun.
I should thank my guy for suggesting to take the bus route for our return journey which gave us splendid view of the lake and also made us travel through one of the most beautiful roadways.
Being someone who would choose a quiet place rather than a busy city life on a holiday.
I loved this day more than any other day.
I loved this day more than any other day.
'Best days are the days which are unplanned' True isn't it?
If you r staying anywhere near Interlaken, I would highly recommend spending a day to explore Brienz and Thun.
We couldn't think of any other Swiss town that could compete with Brienz and Thun for a romantic stroll of our lifetime.
