As the Sun rose over the Lake Thun emanating serenity beyond words by its rays, all we could do was just marvel at the beautiful scenery painted in front of us.
Look how stunning the frame is!
After relishing the romantic view all to ourselves, we boarded our train to Brig from where we had booked our Glacier express.
We couldn't have asked for a better start to our day.(We had fifteen minutes time in Spiez before boarding our train to Brig)

We headed early to explore the center of German-speaking Valais, Brig. Being the starting point of hiking trails of Aletsch Glacier, the city seemed busy.
All I could think of the pretty city, Brig is its majestic buildings with interesting facades.
We took the road opposite to Railway station and were roaming around the streets. We stumbled upon Stockalper Palace in google and to our surprise, it was just a km away from us.
We made a quick visit to the palace and the best part was that we got a pretty couple picture shot by a veteran photographer.
We quickly got fruits and snacks as we hadn't booked Lunch in Glacier Express.(Later on to learn that you can order your food without prior booking too!)
To be frank, till Disentis, we were wondering what’s so
picturesque about this train journey.(Disclaimer- Don't underestimate it. It's in comparison to the other Swiss train journeys!)
Having boarded from Brig, it’s quite obvious that we missed
the views of most photographed mountain peak Matterhorn from our train.
Chur
After a brief halt in the oldest town in Switzerland, Chur, train revived its journey.
Landwasser Viaduct
Albula line
When we got down, we were treated by a picturesque town which lie right on the shores of the lake with a backdrop of snow clad mountains.
One of the quirky things we noted about buildings in St Moritz is that the facades are interestingly designed with sgraffito painting.
Shrimp Saffron Risotto is one of those items I wanted to taste in Switzerland.

We set on to Glacier express to experience one of the most picturesque train journey in the world.
Oberalppass
As Train pulled its gear to soar high into the mountain to reach the highest point of journey(2033 meters above sea level), we were wondering awe at the scenery.
Disentis
Just before Chur, train came to a halt. Came into our compartment, a uniformed person to announce “Train halts at this station for exact twenty minutes. Exactly at twentieth minute, Train will leave and wait for none.”

We popped out of the train to see where to head. We saw
people taking the direction from where the train came from.
Well that settles the issue of which direction to take. We headed (opposite to the direction people were taking) to explore a small hamlet which sits exactly near the station.

What pulled us to this hamlet is this majestic yet rustic monastery(which we assumed it as Church!)
See what we were offered. We met these cute friends while roaming here.
Church? No! It's a Monastery! |

Look at the panic in my face! |
Glacier express |
But from Disentis, journey seemed to excite us.
The grand canyon of Switzerland!
When the gong rang, we turned to our left and saw the grand canyon of Switzerland, Rhine Gorge standing tall.

Landwasser Viaduct
Scenes got even better, when the announcement light was on.
We put on the headsets to hear what it is about.
“Ladies and Gentleman. This is your captain speaking. We are
now crossing the Landwasser Viaduct – the highlight of the picturesque Albula
line”
No matter whether you are a railway fan or not, this Unesco
world heritage railway line will sure surprise you with its sheer Engineering
construction.
A quick google search made us marvel at the huge
architectural feat.
Landwasser viaduct is a massive 65 metre high viaduct with
viaduct wall made of natural dolomite lime, extending in a curve over the
rugged Landwasser valley.
Albula line
With towering viaducts, spiral tunnels, the Cog wheel train scaled up the 400 meters so easily.
The UNESCO world heritage rail line between St Moritz and Thusis is one of the spectacular part of this journey.
St Moritz
After about six hours of journey in train, we finally reached St Moritz to spend a day where the Rich and Famous usually spends.
Here's presenting to you, the popular skiing destination and a rich man’s holiday destination, St Moritz.

We took bus to our stay, Chesa Albris Bed and Breakfast.
We refreshed and got ready to explore St Moritz.
Looking for a budget restaurant to have our dinner, we
mistakenly ended ourselves in a candle light dinner restaurant. Pheww!
That means extra francs!! Never mind. We thoroughly enjoyed
the brilliant ambiance and the scrumptious food served at the restaurant.
We took in the pleasure of Shrimp Saffron Risotto and
Chicken stick with Rosti.

We called it a day after enjoying the night scenes of the costliest
city of Switzerland, St Moritz.
